Abstract Title:Title: Less is More: Learning engagement student survey

Biography:

Dr. Wane has a PhD in Nursing Science as well as a master’s degree from University of South Florida and is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She also has undergraduate degrees in Nutrition and Nursing from Brooklyn College and Downstate Medical Center College of Nursing. Dr. Wane is presently working as a Nurse Consultant. She has published numerous supplements in textbooks as well as journal articles and has been serving as an editorial board member and peer reviewer for several journal publications. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor society.

Research Interest:

A student learning survey (LESS = Learning Engagement Student Survey) was developed whereby student engagement was cultivated to create an interactive learning environment. Engagement of students helps to foster learning goals in the classroom setting that can be easily applied to outcome measurements. Administration and subsequent discussion of the results of the survey with its participant members enabled awareness of student accountability and faculty responsibility in offering teaching/learning methods that enhanced student’s perceived values. Use of this tool facilitates active learning in the classroom, which helps to promote retention of content and application/analysis going forward in professional practice Key Word: Learning, Engagement, Student, Teaching and Value
