Research Interest:

oo frequently, nursing education leads with the “what”: the information someone needs or wants nurses to hear. Often these requests come as the result of an incident or issue or simply because they’re a requirement. These requests look like this: “The nurses need to know [fill in the blank].” Or, “Nurses aren’t doing [fill in the blank]—they clearly need a training.” Unfortunately, leading with “what” will never create a true environment of learning and disrespects not only the nursing community but educational best practices and standards of excellence. Instead, by shifting to a learning culture focused on the “when,” “how,” and “why,” you can create real learning opportunities, ensure learning aligns with organizational goals and data, and truly utilize the expertise of your education team.
